Hanako uses Swedish massage as the basis for your Customized Massage session. Other modalities, or techniques, will be incorporated into the massage when your tissues no longer respond to a Swedish technique. In addition, the use of hot towels on the back and feet will enhance your relaxation experience. Face and foot massage reinforce stress relief.

Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements. The application of oil reduces friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation all of which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.
Aromatherapy: Due to their natural molecular composition, essential oils are easily absorbed by the skin and can be safely applied topically. The application of essential oils can have immediate, localized benefits to the target area of application. They have restorative and calming properties and can be used effectively with massage and beauty therapy. They are also natural disinfectants. The chemical structure of essential oils allows them to be absorbed into the bloodstream via the skin for internal benefit throughout the body. Please let Hanako know if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are postpartum, as many essential oils are contraindicated during each time period.
