Hot Stone Massage

90 minute hot stone massage: $160

Hot stone massage is available from October until April. Available upon request during other months.

I LOVED the 90-minute hot stone massage! She really does use perfectly warmed stones to massage away the stress and tension of travel. I have supposedly had stone massages before but they just put warm rocks on my back after a regular massage. It was an entirely different experience with Hanako. She has such a gentle healer's touch. My only complaint was that I had to get up off the table and leave after the session!

ABMP Hot rock with hand

Hot Stones replace my hands as the tool used for the massage. I have perfected my technique to be able to perform a deep tissue hot stone massage without the use of an oil application. I use basalt river rock heated in a water bath. This process allows for an even heat within the stones. Commonly, hot stones are placed upon the body to heat up a specific area. While this technique is adequate, it doesn’t employ the “that was an amazing massage” factor. My perfected style redefines everything that hot stone massage is all about. What I enjoy most about performing a hot stone massage is that I can go over boney protrusions or into the groove of the spine without causing discomfort.

Why Do People Get Hot Stone Massage?  Many people find the warmth of the hot stones to be comforting and choose it for deep relaxation.

Hot Stone massage is suited to people who tend to feel chilly or who have cold feet. It’s also suited for people who have muscle tension. The heat relaxes muscles, allowing Hanako to work the muscles without using too much oil on the body.

People also get a hot stone massage for a variety of health conditions:

  • Back pain and aches
  • Poor circulation
  • Osteoarthritis and arthritis pain
  • Stress, anxiety, and tension
  • Insomnia
  • Depression

How Do the Hot Stones Feel?  Hot Stones are always flat and smooth. They are never rough. The hot stones used on the back vary in size from that of a large egg (only flat) to a triangular shape similar to your sacrum.

The stones are heated in an electrical heating unit that has an adjustable thermostat control.

Hanako always holds the stones first before touching them to your body.  This ensures that the temperature will not be too hot. Everyone, however, has their own comfort range. Be sure to speak up if the stones are too hot for you.

What Can I Expect During my Hot Stone Massage?  Hanako often begins by applying oil to the stone, which allows the hot stones to glide smoothly along the muscles. You start the session by lying face down, and Hanako will use the hot stones to massage the entire body.

Hanako uses the stones to pick up and knead your muscles and uses only her hands to apply oil directly to your body.

The hot stones may be left in place on sprecific muscles for a short period of time for additional heat application.

Once you are asked to turn over onto your back. Hanako may place small hot stones between your toes or in the palm of your hand before repeating the sequence of gliding oiled stones along muscles to directly work on muscle tension.
